13th BioAsia aims at Connecting the Dots in  Life Sciences and Healthcare

Chandigarh, September 29, 2015: The Asia-Pacific biotechnology industry has been witnessing a growth phase on the back of several factors, such as cost effective manufacturing capabilities, improved clinical capabilities, growing health needs of large population base, exports and increasing government support among others. According to an industry report, the industry grew at the CAGR of 6.7 per cent between 2010-14 to reach a total of USD77 billion in 2014. India is witnessing a new era of growth and opportunities in the Life Sciences / Healthcare sectors and under this backdrop 13th edition of BioAsia (http://2016.bioasia.in/) – the widely attended annual international convention will be organized by the Industries & Commerce Department, Government of Telangana, Federation of Asian Biotech Associations and the Pharmaceutical Export Promotion Council, Government of India at Hyderabad International convention center – HICC, Hyderabad from February 8th to 10th, 2016. The theme for BioAsia 2016 will be - 'Leveraging India to succeed globally' with focus on connecting the dots to build stakeholder consensus and draw a distinct road-map to propel the growth in Indian Life Sciences sector.



With increasing pressure to reduce drug development costs and accelerate R&D programs, several MNCs have started setting up R&D centers in Asia to take advantage of cost-effective, yet highly skilled talent pool. India has emerged as a preferred destination for contract research and manufacturing activities, process reengineering and innovative R&D to act as a one stop solution with various enablers in place. The country is aided by a large, highly skilled community of scientists and researchers. Additionally, the government's support in bringing a comprehensive IPR Policy, launch of 'Make in India' and financial support programs, regulatory reforms, etc. are expected to further boost the growth for Life Sciences industry. BioAsia 2016 will aim to give additional impetus to this growth wave and will be a platform for Global thought leaders to brainstorm and debate on emerging trends in the industry and their perspectives on how to leverage potential and opportunities India is presenting to the global life sciences industry.



An expert committee constituted by the Government of Telangana, comprising of members from industry, academia, trade bodies, Secretary Industries Shri. Arvind Kumar IAS, Industries Commissioner and MD, TSIIC met recently in city to discuss the event plans.





BioAsia 2015 saw more than 500 companies from over 50 countries participate in this Global Biobusiness Forum and the 13th edition is only expected to be bigger and better with best names from the life sciences and pharma industry including corporates, global thought leaders, scientists, regulatory bodies and foreign delegates getting together in Hyderabad to be part of BioAsia 2016.
