66 students across six countries chosen to be trained as future leaders under Cargill's Global Scholar Program

Chandigarh, July 27, 2015 – For the third consecutive year, Cargill in partnership with Institute of International Education (IIE) is continuingthe Global Scholars Program to build a foundation for future potential leaders, getting new talent ready to take on exciting opportunities and challenges. The Cargill Global Scholars Program is a distinctive scholarship opportunity that not only provides financial support, but offers leadership development opportunities through seminars, networking events, and a one-on-one mentoring program. These enrichment activities have been designed to help foster and enhance leadership potential and critical thinking skills in the students, and equip them with the tools necessary for becoming future global leaders and decisions makers.



The program being run in sixcountries will support 66talented and high-performing undergraduate students this year. The selected individuals will be chosen based on their demonstrated high level of academic performance and leadership potential.



In India, 10 scholarships will be awarded in the 2015-2016 academic year in four leading science and technology institutions. The participating Indian institutions in the Cargill Global Scholars program are Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi; Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai; National Institute of Technology, Trichy and Delhi Technological University.

Students who are selected as Cargill Global Scholars will receive scholarship funds of up to US$2,500 per year for up to twoyears and will be invited to take part in a series of leadership and enrichment activities designed to enhance their critical thinking skills and equip them with the tools necessary for becoming leaders and decision makers in their chosen fields. Students will gain valuable opportunities to observe and learn from business and community leaders. They also will take part in case studies that focus on specific issues within the global food industry and will receive a Cargill mentor in their area of study.



According to Namrata Jha, Director IIE, New Delhi, IIE is proud to be partnering with Cargill to implement the Cargill Global Scholars Program in creating a global network of future leaders. The Cargill scholars represent a group of talented, young leaders who have the vision and passion for a better world

and we believe programs like this will help realize their dreams. The unique component of the program is the mentoring opportunity provided by Cargill leaders, who help these students receive practical guidance and skills in developing professional capacities.



Jash Banker, Global Scholar from IIT Bombay who graduated this year, said,"It was not just a scholarship - it was an experience. I believe my leadership skills have improved and I have learnt how to work better in teams and listen to other people's opinions. It has also brought me in touch with wonderful people all over the world and has given me some wonderful friends."



Finally, as the Global Scholars complete their leadership and enrichment activities under this program and graduate from theiruniversities, they will join the internationalalumni network of Cargill Global Scholars, where enrichment and networking opportunities will continue.
