Pearl Academy's new School of Media offers specialised programs in Journalism and entertainment

Chandigarh, 13 November, 2017: With an aim to address the fast-growing media and entertainment sector, Pearl Academy has launched School of Media to prepare young graduates to communicate professionally and ethically, using new-age media. Pearl Academy is India's leading institution in design, fashion and creative business and has now extended its ambit by starting courses in media and communication with specialization in journalism and entertainment.

Marking the introduction of the new School of Media, Pearl Academy recently organized a panel discussion at India Habitat Center in New Delhi. The session was moderated by noted career counsellor Pervin Malhotra and the panelists included Sagarika Ghose, Consulting Editor, Times of India; Shubho Sengupta, Brand Consultant; Atul Chaurasia, Executive Editor, Newslaundry; Monisha Chowla, COO, Mojarto, an e-startup of NDTV; and Meha Jayaswal, Area Head – School of Media, Pearl Academy.



During the discussion, Meha Jayaswal, Area Head – School of Media, Pearl Academy said, "We are witnessing a move from mass media to mass conversations, from a controlled media to a shared one and from publishing two newspapers in a day to refreshing twitter feed twice a minute. Responsibility of the media institute has therefore become very important in training budding journalists to find their voice among millions of media owners where breaking news has moved from television screen to mobile screen. The new media school of Pearl Academy has broken all the rules of classrooms and assessments for its students. For our students, world is their classroom and covering live events has become an integral part of their learning grounds. They are mentored to be proficient in approaching a story from a 360-degree perspective."



Pearl Academy, School of Media has also set up an advisory board of industry experts from different genres of media and communications. The board consists of Mr. Mohit Soni- COO, MESC; Ms. Farhana Farook Khatri- Managing Editor, Filmfare; Ms. Jayshree Jethwaney- Professor & Program Director, Indian Institute of Mass Communication; Mr. Shubho Sengupta- Brand consultant; Mr. Mayank Shekhar- Entertainment head, Mid-day.



According to Mohit Soni, COO of Media Entertainment Skills Council, "The new era of digital disruption is making a bang in the market today, where journalism and media sector is taking a big leap.
