Mondelez India Completes One Year of 'Shubh Aarambh' in Baddi
Chandigarh/Baddi, October 12, 2015 –Mondelez India celebrated one year of its national CSR Programme "Shubh Aarambh" this month. To celebrate this milestone, colleagues from Mondelez India Baddi manufacturing facility volunteered towards community development initiatives to create delicious moments of joy.
From October 7th to 9th, colleagues from the Baddi factoryvolunteered towards community projects in delivering nutrition education lessons, participating in sports for development sessions and improving access to fresh foods working with children, mothers, schools and communities.
Nandkumar Kulkarni, Plant Lead - Baddisaid, "I'm very happy to share that Mondelez India's National CSR Programme, Shubh Aarambh completes one year this October. To celebrate this milestone, we at the Mondelez Baddi Factory participated in community projects, which are part of the Shubh Aarambh program. Through Shubh Aarambh, we will cover 7 villages and impact over 1700 beneficiaries over three years in Solan district."
The volunteering activities were planned keeping in mind the three fundamental pillars of the Shubh Aarambh Program, namely:
· Sports for Development – Building awareness about health, hygiene, nutrition, gender diversity, using sports and play as a medium
· Nutrition Education – Sessions to educate the beneficiaries about the importance of nutrition and help mothers and children adopt better eating habits
· Growing Fresh Fruits and Vegetables – Teaching the beneficiaries the concepts of kitchen gardening and planting nutritious vegetables at home
Mondelez India has always been active in Baddi in the space of nutrition, health and education. The company launched its CSR project Shubh Aarambh in Baddi in 2014and has partnered with two NGOs - Save the Children and Magic Bus – to develop a unique delivery model which will help implement this multi-pronged and multi-year programme in Baddi.
The company recently launcheda dedicated Skills and Livelihood Training Centre in Baddi in September 2015 as part of its 'Youth Livelihood Development Program'. The program aims to support 600 youth in Baddi across the age group of 17-25, who have education up to Class X and are striving hard to find full-time employment.
