Vodafone creates awareness on ‘Absolute Safety Rules’ and spreads the message of ‘No smoking and No Alcohol’ amongst students
Chandigarh, September 22, 2015: Looking to spread the message of ‘Safe and Healthy Living’ amongst today’s youth, Vodafone India, today organised a ‘Nukkad Natak’ and ‘Free Health Check-Up camp’ for students at DAV College, Sector-10, Chandigarh.
As one of the leading telecom service providers in country, Vodafone India tries to innovatively engage the masses to bring about a positive change in the society. This time, Vodafone Punjab circle decided to actively and interactively engage the students and spread the message of Health, Safety and Wellness amongst them.
While the Nukkad Natak focused on giving the message of living a safe life and following safety rules, the free check-up camp focussed on the health and wellness factors. Vodafone India itself has a very holistic HSW (Health, Safety and Wellness) policy in place, adherence to which is mandatory for its employees and partners, so as to ensure they lead a happy, healthy and safe life.
The Nukkad Natak focussed on innovatively bringing forward the message of the “8 Absolute Safety Rules”- a key component of Vodafone’s HSW policy which hold relevance in our day to day lives and if followed can help ensure our safety and the safety of those around us to a large extent. Sharing his views on the initiative, Pushpinder S Gujral, Business Head- Punjab, HP and J&K, Vodafone India, said, “As a people-centric organisation, Vodafone India is at the forefront of undertaking initiatives which contribute to the betterment of the society. The students of today are going to be the leaders of tomorrow and they are the ones who will give shape to the future. Therefore, today’s initiative, the Nukkad Natak and the Health Check-Up camp, were held amongst the student community to emphasise the importance of following safety rules, saying no to ill-habits like smoking and drinking while also enabling them to seek sound medical advice for free from the visiting doctors. This is a small step by us towards the bigger cause of building a better tomorrow.”
The Nukkad Natak kept students engaged in large numbers, successfully managing to drive home the message of following the ‘8 Absolute Safety Rules’ which could be judged from the loud cheers it drew from the crowd.
The Free Health Check-Up Camp by General Medicine doctors, Gynaecologists and dieticians also witnessed a good turnout from students looking to seek advice on a variety of issues. The doctors also motivated them to quit smoking and drinking if they were engaged in them. Further, Vodafone also engaged Cipla Ltd to conduct a free Pulmonary Lungs Capacity test for the students.
