Chandigarh, 24th November 2017: The Golden Jubilee Year National Convention of Company Secretaries (45th National Convention) concluded today. The valedictory session witnessed Mr. Amogh Lila Dass, Vice-President, ISKON Dwarka and Director, ISKON Youth Forum, Dwarka as the Special Guest along with Prof. P J Kurien, Deputy Chairman, Rajya Sabha .



In keeping with the Prime Minister's vision of New India 2022, the theme of the three-day annual convention was "COMPANY SECRETARY: SHAPING NEW INDIA 2022 THROUGH GOOD GOVERNANCE". The magnificent event witnessed a holistic exchange of views and perspectives from industry stalwarts and key opinion leaders and how Good Corporate Governance can steer our Country towards new India 2022.



Special Guest, Mr. Amogh Lila Dass, Vice-President, ISKON Dwarka and Director, ISKON Youth Forum, Dwarka said, "There are many kinds of crisis. Root cause of any crisis is ineffective leadership, due to immature leadership, growth crisis occur. Hence, the person at the helm of affairs need to observe sound knowledge about right and wrong and then practice 'Karma'. It's indeed good to know that ICSI is developing a governance code based on ancient scriptures and principles. It will be interesting to see amalgamation of both and what difference will it bring to our current corporate governance norms".



Prof. P J Kurien, Deputy Chairman, Rajya Sabha, appreciated ICSI members for focusing on the country's progress and working towards shaping a New India. Corporate are vital to the development of any nation and the Company Secretaries are key players in the corporate arena, so, if they stick to the commitments and duties, the country will definitely grow. He also congratulated ICSI for the achievement of India's secretarial standard (issued by ICSI) being accepted by Malaysia.



CS (Dr.) Shyam Agrawal, President, of The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) said, "ICSI is the only institute that is present in the entire country across the length and breadth of India. We are not only Company Secretaries but Secretaries to the nation and with this our responsibility becomes even more enormous. Let's join our hands together and capitalize the momentum and create a new ICSI 2022 with the PM's vision of New India 2022."



He further stated, "Since inception, ICSI has grown tremendously as the only recognized professional body in India to develop and regulate the profession of Company Secretaries. The Golden Jubilee Year National Convention of Company Secretaries (45th National Convention) will discuss the basic tenets of achieving zero tolerance by adopting good governance practices for a pragmatic and progressive outlook of any company.



The 3 day convention focused on contemporary themes such as Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code 2016, GST-Good and Simple Tax, Life Skills/Management Skills, New India-Vision 2022 NCLT and Governance from Ancient Indian Scriptures.



CS Ramasubramaniam C. (Council Member, ICSI and Chairman, 45th National Convention Organising Sub-Committee), CS Gopalakrishna Hedge (Council Member, ICSI and Co-Chairman, 45th National Convention Organising Sub-Committee), CS Ahalada Rao V. (Council Member, ICSI and Co-Chairman, 45th National Convention Organising Sub-Committee), CS G.M Ganpathi, Chairman Southern India, Regional Council of ICSI , CS Rakesh Ranjan, Chairman, Thiruvananthapuram Chapter of ICSI were also present on the ocassion.



CS Dinesh C Arora, Secretary, ICSI, delivered the Vote of Thanks.
